Here is the link to the Light and Color PhysicsQuest you will be completing. This is due by the end of class.
There’s nothing in physics that says the EM Drive should work, but NASA has recently confirmed that it does work. If their results can be confirmed then it would seem that physics has been broken. Whenever that happens we tend to learn the most about how the universe works.
The common explanation for how bikes stay up is conservation of angular momentum. However, this is a very small contribution to the stability of a bike. The biggest contribution is related to the engineering of the bike.
This website is currently out of date. My students should be using It’sLearning to access any current information. I will leave this site here as a source of potentially helpful information.
A domino can knock over another domino about 1.5x larger than itself. A chain of dominoes of increasing size makes a kind of mechanical chain reaction that starts with a tiny push and knocks down an impressively large domino.
These tesla coils are amazing! The music is made by the sparks you see.
This video is of a band named Arc Attack (with a robot drummer) who build and use these tesla coils as their instruments.
Here’s a similar setup (looks like it’s in someone’s driveway) playing Sweet Home Alabama.
Here’s an excellent interview with Arc Attack explaining how these tesla coils work, and how the band makes them. It’s worth watching the whole thing, particularly for some electromagnetic destruction at the end.
These robots from Boston Dynamics never cease to amaze me. Watch how this unteathered robot keeps from falling while walking on uneven snowy ground, and responds to being knocked over from behind.
